What is Tiger’s Eye?

Tiger’s Eye is a chatoyant gemstone, meaning that it has a beautiful layered fibrous appearance, resembling a cat’s eye. In fact the term chatoyancy is derived from French, ‘Oeil de Chat’ meaning ‘Cat’s Eye’ and this high chatoyancy is certainly descriptive of Tiger’s Eye. Tiger’s eye is a metamorphic rock of the quartz group.
